“So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He crated them.”

Genesis 1:27

Happy New Year!  Here we are on the 6 day of a new year, the year 2016.  It reminded me of the 6 day of creation when God crowned His creation with us.  Can you wrap your thoughts around that for a moment.  It is incredible that He would think that much of us–not just to speak us into existence, but for the three of Them to agree to make us in Their image, and all three participate in our creation.  Wow!

We are created in God’s own image.  We are created and crafted–God’s handiwork (Ep 2:10).  Not only that, but He created our “inmost being” (Ps 139:13)–our abilities to think, reason, understand good and evil, create and invent, make choices, appreciate beauty, be in relationships, and have a sense of justice and love.  OMG, we are fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are God’s works.  As the scripture says, I hope that your soul knows that very well. (Ps 139:14).  Every time I think about this, it makes me more grateful and more in awe of Him!

And this image of God is reflected in every human being, in our enemies as well as our neighbors.  May we see everyone around us as God sees them:  as His precious handiwork.  And, let us pray for those that have not yet acknowledged that.

Let’s all purpose this year to be intentional about living, speaking, acting, interacting in ways that honor Him and reflect His image.

Passing the Salt,

Reverend Belynda
